About me
Gregory J. Rolen serves as General Counsel for the Orange County Department of Education, where he advises the County Superintendent, Board of Education, and executive leadership on complex legal, governance, labor and employment, student services, charter school, special education, and constitutional law issues. Over a legal career spanning more than three decades, he has served as a Deputy District Attorney, Deputy Attorney General, law firm partner, and school district general counsel, building extensive experience in litigation, public agency governance, and education law.
A recognized statewide authority on education law and public governance, Greg is a frequent speaker and author on topics including the Brown Act, Public Records Act, ethics, student rights, labor and employment, and emerging legal issues affecting California schools. He has presented before legislative committees, professional associations, universities, and education leaders throughout the state and has authored numerous articles on education and public law.
Greg earned his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from the University of San Diego, where he was a varsity football player. He remains active in the education community through his service on several nonprofit boards supporting students and educators in Orange County.
