About me
Richard Fenton has served with the Monterey County Probation Department since 2005, beginning his career as a Deputy Probation Officer. Over the past two decades, he has been worked to advance positive change for both youth and adults involved in the justice system. In 2016, he was promoted to Probation Services Manager and has since led multiple units across both adult and juvenile divisions.
His leadership has included oversight of campus-based probation officers who work in close partnership with school administrators and students to support educational success and reduce justice system involvement. Currently, PSM Fenton manages the Monterey County Juvenile Hall and Secure Youth Treatment Facility, which houses youth ages 12 to 25. These youth may be in short-term custody pending court proceedings or serving longer-term commitments, resulting from the closure of the Division of Juvenile Justice within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
PSM Fenton plays a role in the development and implementation of programs and educational services within the facility, ensuring that all youth have access to meaningful opportunities for growth, learning, and successful reintegration.
