About me
Mason Henricks, LMFT is the Manager of School Safety and Risk Prevention at the San Mateo County Office of Education and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with nearly 25 years of experience in public service, behavioral health, and school safety. In his current role, he partners with all 23 school districts in San Mateo County to strengthen school safety systems through the implementation of countywide emergency preparedness, violence prevention, and behavioral threat assessment initiatives.
Prior to joining the San Mateo County Office of Education, Mason held leadership positions in community mental health, overseeing countywide homeless youth services, specialized residential treatment programs, outpatient behavioral health services, early psychosis intervention programs, and the development of mobile crisis response teams.
Mason has led the development and countywide implementation of the San Mateo County Emergency Response Protocol for Schools (The Big Five) and the San Mateo County Student Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Protocol. His work has supported the expansion of these evidence-based frameworks to neighboring counties, helping schools build comprehensive, multidisciplinary approaches to emergency preparedness and violence prevention.
Outside of work, Mason enjoys traveling with his wife, who also works in education, and keeping up with the adventures of their four teenagers.
